CommentsThis is strangely beautiful, Andrew.
You have an amazing eye, which turns urban landscapes into flights of imagination that are surely in harmony with the sparks of inspiration that created them. -- [link] I think Robbie put her finger on it. I have been trying to fathom how your work is out of context with mainstream photography, regardless of subject. Each shot seems to be part of sequence, both in time and in place. And now, I think I recognize the feeling I get when I see your work. Often, when I love a particular filmmaker's work, I will stop it at a point and just look at a still frame or a slowed down sequence of frames that set themselves apart as an aesthetic statement. Your work, I think, is like looking at stills, each one hand selected from a discerning cinematographer's private reel.
Gooodness, the scene and environment.

Taking pictures, is a healing process for me. There's something spiritual in it as well. Not to be overly dramatic, but when I'm getting pictures, sometimes I feel like I'm part of something bigger than myself. People in the public in Chicago eye you suspiciously if you've got a camera. I guess it makes them self conscious. Perhaps people are mostly like their own walking desert islands when they live in the city. -- Andrew |
